Never Forget

 Never Forget

"I...I..love you."

The first time I uttered those words to you...

you smiled at me...and then punched me

You then said, "It took you long enough."

We both laughed for an hour after that, 

telling jokes and making fun of the entire situation

 We were young, we were scared

But with each other, we were free

That memory will always be with me

 And you....I could never forget you....

Broken

Broken

You came back to me, crawling on your knees
You begged and you pleaded and I still said no
It took everything in my broken being to reject
the one I care most about
But I had to....
It was too much...
Too much had happened....
I tried to forgive, I tried to forget
But the stinging bite of betrayal
burned through any hope of us
getting back together
I wished you the best
and then I left, a trail
of regret and pride behind,
never see to see you again.

First Kiss

 First Kiss

Our first kiss, the one kiss I still remember
in the movie theater...with the lights dimmed.
We were watching, "Titanic" and the scene with
the car sex came onto the screen
She grabbed my hand a bit tighter
and pulled it closer to her lap
She then turned her face to me
I could feel her hot breath on my cheek
I turned my head to see two galaxies
brimming with color staring back at me
I reached in my head close to hers
she hesitated...
but then with force, wrapped her lips
around mine
I kissed back, taking my hand out of hers,
and placed it on her face, gently caressing it
while my lips moved like oceans
when it was over, we stared into each others eyes for
what seemed like a split second...
and then the credits to the movie started to roll

Perfectly Imperfect

 Perfectly Imperfect

She is perfectly imperfect
She makes mistakes in the cutest ways
When she spills a drink...she will start
smiling, and say, " Food for the bacteria" before cleaning it up
When she smiles, you can see the gap between
her two front teeth, which happen to be in the shape
of a heart
The way she always stumbles in heels
you can tell she has had little to no practice
wearing them
She is perfectly imperfect
and I hope she never changes

Fiery Winds

 Fiery Winds

I find more and more of my thoughts
consumed by the fire in your eyes
I dare not look directly into them
for fear of being burnt alive
Yet I can't fully look away
or my heart may become cold
I admit, I am intimidated by you
But this is also the reason I am
so enraptured by you
You are a hurricane
a force to be reckoned with,
sweeping up everything in your path
while everyone stands helpless with wonder

I see

 I see

My dreams are of halycon skies,

crystalline waterfalls; golden trees;

rainbows with colors you can only imagine;

and yet when I awaken next to you...I see all of these things,

staring into your beautiful eyes 

The One

 The One

Alluring bodies are nice

but a good, caring soul is hard to come by

A quick wit is attractivebut a kindred spirit who will always be by your side

and have your back whenever you need them is invaluable

A person with a lot of material wealth is sensible to be with

but someone who can make you laugh and smile on your

darkest days is irreplaceable.

Overboard

 Overboard

Drifting through the seas of loneliness

I search for an island...a refuge

Of all things I could find, I find you,flailing 

your arms in desperation, searching

for some means of rescue

We latch onto each other, 

creating a human flotation device

We float for hours through the unforgiving sea

but together we are content

We happen upon an island filled

with everything we could ever want

And that, is what love is all about

Reassembing

 Reassembling

Picking up the pieces of what is left

gazing at the remains of my broken heart

stretching to reassemble from the theft

stringing together each remaining part

though I loved, my was just a test

my heart, a test comparable to Gordion's knot

you passed and shot an arrow through my chest

my heart, a war which you fought, and fought.

Final surrender to that sorrow that is....

Love...

Eternally

 Eternally

Love is the beginning, as surely as it is the end

wherever you find it, cherish it.

Whenever you lose it, do not despair,

for surely it will find you again.

The feeling I feel for you is best summed up

as the equivalent of the sun rising on a snowy day

and warming you both inside and out

No poem, no stanza, no rhyme could ever describe

the way you brighten my darkest days

You are my starlight on a pitch black night

which guides me home

I will always stand by your side through thick and thin

I am yours, eternally.

What I miss

What I miss...

The strawberry smell of her auburn hair

The way she walked with a slight tilt in her hips

The way she would grab onto my arm while watching horror films

The way she comforted me whenever I was down

What i miss the most?

The fact that she chose every day of her finite life to be by my side

I will see her on the other side one day...

Latching onto the pieces

Of a broken heart while

Vying for the attention it needs forever and

Evermore

Steel Heart

 Steel Heart

I had a heart of steel

yet yours was a heart of molten lava

No matter the circumstance, my heart

would melt and bend to you

I tried to resist loving you

but it was all in vain 

My heart was eventually enveloped 

in your love...and after that, there was no

turning back

What once was steel, has become pewter

easier to mold, but also easier to love

Pierced

Pierced

Our love was the envy of human,
demon, and seraph alike
It destroyed my soul when it finally ended
It ended so quickly that the wind was knocked
from my chest
It took only five words
Those five words, a spear through my heart
"I don't love you anymore"
You uttered them with such casualness
I understood the words perfectly
The problem was...that I was still deeply in love

Believe

Believe

I used to think of love...

as just a four letter word

that was tossed around meaninglessly

That was..until I met her...

She brightened my sky

She sweetened my solitude

She broke all barriers that my

heart once held so dearly

I was swept into a maelstrom

of elation, so high, that I thought

I'd never set foot on the ground again

She changed me for the better

Now I believe in possibilities

I believe in tomorrow

I believe in love....

If only

If only

I have tread the waters of time, 

the flames of avarice,

and the winds of doubt

I have searched forever for someone like you

And yet you are still out of reach

I wish only to caress your hair with my hand

and tell you how you are the most beautiful pearl

in all of Earth's oceans

I wish to hold your hand in mine

and just sit together, while I read you

love poetry of the ancients

I wish to walk side by side with you
in the most beautiful garden,
although even the most magnificent garden
would pale in comparison to your beauty
 If only you could be mine....

Crushed

 Crushed

That moment you told me that

you had cheated one me...

My heart burst into one million pieces

I was dizzy....I had to sit down

Was our perfect relationship not as 

perfect as I had imagined it in my head?

I felt betrayed

I left the room at that point and

just cried

I cried for an hour and

when I finally got a hold of myself,

I asked you to leave

After bathing in the torrid waters of agony for a week,

I emerged into the brilliance of life

 I came out stronger, bolder, and heartier

I was fragile before

but now I am strong

I am strong enough to finally forgive you

and move on with my life

Healing Love

 Healing love

I remember when you used to 

make those funny faces and talk

in that funny voice

Whatever hardship I was going through,

seemed to melt away at the hearing of your voice

You were my protection

You were my guard

No matter the seemingly insurmountable

negative emotions that plagued me,

you could always get a smile out of me

I call that healing love

Protection

 Protection

That moment we kissed

while the rain was pouring heavily around us

Our only protection from the rain

was a small wooden bridge

The rain symbolized the hardships

that we went through

and the bridge symbolized our love

We needed no protection, other than that bridge

as we needed nothing else but each others love

Envelop

 Envelop

It would seem that some

invisible force draws us together

Every little thing I see and hear

reminds me of your laughter and your smile

I try to forget about you

I try to stay away,

but it would seem that something

greater than us has different plans

Call it love, call it destiny

All I know is that...

 You envelop my soul

My Goddess

My Goddess

One smile from your beautiful lips

could move me to climb Everest

One glance from your sapphire eyes

could get me to swim the length of the Atlantic

One flip of your hair

could have me on my knees

I bow to your beauty

My love, my darling

My Goddess

Restraint

Restraint

Put your hand near the flame

and you will be warmed

Decide to be greedy and put your hand

in the flame, and you will be burned

The same can be applied to love

You have to demonstrate restraint

and be gentle, while offering yourself

If you try to grab at the flame in impatience,

you will be burned

Just as if you expect everything from someone,

you will be disappointed

Fated

Fated

These words are pulled from my very aching heart

What you didn't know is that you were wrong from the start

Looking deeply into your eyes, I know that we could never part

Being without you is the most lonely prison, and feels like being stung by a poison dart

A dart that injures, and sometimes even kills the soul

It leaves you with pain and heart full of ash and coal

The poison flows through your veins and takes its toll

to destroy everything you ever loved is its only goal

A goal of such spite and anger can never truly be sated

Death is the only product of such blood lust and your life is forever fated

to be ended in a horrific way, love is the only cure and love cannot be dated

Love is like

Love is like 

love is like 

standing outside during a lightning

storm holding a large metal pole

You are bathed in the healing rain

and you are able to experience the 

wind on your face, the heightened

emotions filling you with adrenaline

But at the same time, there is always

a chance that you may be struck by lightning

stopping your heart...and ending it 

all in a single, brilliant flash.

Heartbreak comes like that.

What you have to decide is

if it's worth the risk.

Wings

 Wings

My heart is flying on its own

with wings of a cherub, granted 

by your love

You elevate me beyond the sky

My heart sings with the stars

and dances with the moon

Without you, my heart would rest

on the ground, troubled by the daily

turmoil of life

With you, my heart eclipses the sun

You are the rhyme, you are the reason

Please....

Don't ever leave

Is this love?

 Is this love?

The way you kiss me sends

shivers down my spine

and shakes me to my very core

The way you look into my eyes

with your eyes saying, "I love you"

elicits feelings of joy and excitement

I don't know what I did to deserve you,

but I plan on keeping you as mine for

as long as possible

If you were to leave tomorrow,

I don't know how I could go on.

Purgatory

 Purgatory

The heavens themselves cry out

when we are apart

Hell below us trembles in fear

when we are together

Our love is a force to be reckoned with

Every time we kiss, angels join together

and play halycon melodies behind their golden gates

The dark lord himself weeps in sorrow, for

he knows that not even he can separate such

a perfect love

One "I love you" keeps both the heavenly and hellish away

We shall spend forever together in this purgatory known as love

I would follow you into the depths of hell itself,

if only to continue seeing your beauty

If I had one wish, I would wish to spend eternity

in your sweet embrace, while the universe fell to ruins

around us

I would journey all around the earth

To just steal one kiss from you

I would do anything to smell that scent,

the scent of you, just one more time

Your love is my savior

 Your love is my savior

My vision blurs when you're out of sight

You are my guiding light in this dystopian

world fraught with misery and pain

My heart depends on your voice

to soothe its emotional injuries

My broken courage relies on your

caresses to wash away my worries, and

to take away all of these thoughts

that bring me to my knees

You are the answer to all of my questions

You bring about the last breath to my demons

and usher in the angels which help me to my feet

Almost Perfect

Almost Perfect

 It's almost perfect, the way she sees the world, like

its a place for hopeful beginnings and happy endings

It's almost perfect, the way she talks to me and the

way she soothes me with her lullaby that promises

that everything will be alright

It's almost Perfect the way she smiles, that one

small gesture brightening my entire day

Perfection is unattainable...

but she comes as close to perfect

as you can ever get.

Fish out of Water

Fish out of Water

I sat and reminisced of times when I wasn't 

in despair

The only consolation I had was my 

will and my strength to see me through another dark day

You plucked me from the waters of

agony like a fish from the sea

you gutted my emotional pain on the shores of anguish

and you threw away my melancholic waste like

a true fisherman of love

You put the rest of me on the fire of hope and

set me ablaze with a passion I could not control;

the heat extinguishing any self doubt that I held onto

The moment you tasted my infatuated flesh, I became you

and you became me

But like a fish out of water, I yearned to be released back

into my wretchedness

I pushed you away like you were a twisted dream

to mock my loneliness

I felt solace with you

But like a true fish, I receded and fought my way back to the waters

 and never again found

true security

 Cadence of Cupid

Arrows of love flying at booming speed

Beware, if one strikes you, take heed

You will fall in love, instantly infected

by the cadence of cupid, so sweetly inflected

For millenia, Cupid has worked at and perfected

his shot, which will hit like a freight train

all the way from your heart to your brain,

nullifying all sorrow and pain

Listen to the cadence of Cupid and be saved

by the trials of this world that, with love, can be braved

Rise

Rise

We do not fall in love.

We rise in love.

Love is not an act of falling,

but of pure ascension

Even mighty mountains fall

below us when we love and show love.

The sky becomes our kingdom

and the heavens open their pearly gates to our open heart.

Love is an emotion of purity,

not tainted by the poison

of everyday ills.

When we rise in love, we kiss

the tips of the universe,

and when we get our hearts broken,

we plummet to the deepest depths of fiery hell.

Even death is temporary while in the gaze of love.

Our universal love will ring through the ages, deafening

everything that comes in its path

Missing You

Sitting with myself is all I can take right now

Missing you is pure agony, I find myself asking how

I ever let you get so far away from the comfort of my arms

It’s not like

I’ve ever hurt you or brought you any sorrow or harm

I wish I could hold you right now and take all of your fears away

We will be together again soon, my love

we will find a way.

Thinking

Thinking

Thinking about you is like

thinking about the stars

Both shine brighter than the sun

and both inspire me to write these poems

I long for your embrace like the trees yearn

for the falling rain and the moist earth

We will dance one day to the sounds of the birds

and like birds, our souls will fly through the universe

jumping from galaxy to galaxy declaring our love

for each other. I laugh when I think about the times

I've spent with you. Laughs of both joy and sorry.

Joy for the time spent with you, and sorrow for the times

you've been away from me. I wish only happiness for you

in your journeys away from me, and I hope strongly that

one day you will return and have amazing stories to tell me

as we sit in the comfort of our own home

Galactic Love

Galactic Love

My love for you shines like a star's light

and when it supernovas, my love for you

spreads across the universe, touching

the deepest reaches of the cosmos

It spans forever through every galaxy

The light shining on your face is symbolic

of the sun, and like the sun you are required  to keep

 me moving from day to day

Without you, I am like the moon,

a cold, desolate rock, waiting every day

for you, the sun, to shine your healing

light upon my hardened form

My time without you is like all of creation

waiting for the big bang, to live

You quench my heart's thirst

like the falling rain quenches

the trees of this planet

And like the trees without water,

my heart cannot grow without

your love

Cherry blossoms falling on my head

Sun shining on down on me

Cool breeze blowing on my face

Feeling the warm sand between my toes

Feeling the ocean waves surround me

A gourmet buffet before my eyes

The most prestigious prize I have won

The affection of 1000 kittens

The most beautiful music I hear

These are the feelings I get when I see you

For Rachael

Someday when the pages of my life end,

I know that you will be one of its most

 beautiful chapters

If I ever get to write another book,

 it would be exactly the same

The only thing I would change, 

would be to include you in the very beginning.

 My favorite page was the day when I met you.

 My favorite paragraph was when you first held me in your arms.

My favorite sentence was when we kissed at the movie theater and you nuzzled against my shoulder

True Love

Sweet Cherry Girl

I love you...more than the waves love the moon...and like 

the waves depend on the moon...my heart depends on your 

love to truly move....You are the most beautiful of 

angels...sent from above to guide me in my darkest of 

hours. The pain you feel, I feel as well. your joy is my joy, 

your happiness, my happiness, your sorrow, my sorrow. I 

live with the burden of knowing that you could leave me at

 any moment without the slightest of goodbyes...but I trust 

that you will not. Dance with me, sweet Cherry girl, and love all that the world has worth loving.

I love the way you lick your lips on a chilly Autumn day

The way you sip hot cocoa in your green polka dotted pajamas

I love the way you kiss me spontaneously while I’m jotting down my poetry

The way you pull your fingers through my hair and massage my scalp

I love the way you dance in the moonlight, with no care in this troubled world

The way you sing to our kittens while they’re sleeping.

But most of all I love the way you smile

The way you laugh at all of my jokes

I look up to the moon and I see you

I see your beauty and your radiance

The push and pull

The power of your words

The shining magnificence of your charisma

Your body has the power to move water into waves

and the power to drive people crazy

Like a full moon, you drive humans to think

Love Eternal

I would burn in one million hell fires for all eternity

if only my lips could graze yours for one nanosecond

I would travel forever until the sun eclipsed on my eyes

if only to catch one small glimpse of your unequaled beauty

I would travel to the bottom of the sea and catch the perfect pearl

for you, if only you could feel in your heart for me what I feel in mine for you.

I would dance on the sharpest diamond blades for the rest of my life if only you answered my eternal love with one, "I love you."
